LifeLore Privacy Policy
LifeLore (“we”, “us”) is an AI-prompted memoir app that helps you and your family record, organize, and pass down life stories. A memoir is the most private thing there is, so we put privacy first at the architecture level: your memories stay on your device by default.
1. Local-first: your memories live on your phone
The text you write, the voice you record, the photos you add, and the chapters you finally generate are all stored by default in the database and file system on your own device — they are not uploaded to our servers. Even if you create hundreds of memories, our cloud holds none of that content.
2. What our backend stores (kept minimal)
To provide essential services — sign-in, subscription, and weekly reminders — we use Supabase to store only a very small amount of account metadata:
- Sign-in info: your email address and account identifier (for Sign in with Apple or email magic-link login).
- Subscription status: whether you are a Pro user (managed via RevenueCat).
- Weekly reminder settings: whether weekly prompt notifications and channels are enabled.
- Gift redemption codes: records used for the gifting flow.
Our servers do not store your memory text, recordings, photos, or generated chapters, and do not store any personally identifiable information (PII) contained in your memories.
3. Data handling during AI chapter synthesis
When you (as a Pro user) use the “AI chapter synthesis” feature, the text of the memories for the chapter being synthesized is sent to our self-hosted AI gateway for processing, so your scattered memories can be woven into a chapter. Please be clearly aware of the following about this process:
- Only the text content of the stage being synthesized is sent for organizing.
- Recordings and photos are never uploaded to the AI gateway.
- Once organizing is done, the AI gateway does not cache your content.
- The AI only organizes — it never invents. It adds no facts you did not provide, and every passage it generates can be long-pressed in the app to trace back to your own words.
4. Authentication & third-party services
We use the following third-party services to provide functionality, passing each only the information necessary for that function:
- Supabase — user authentication and account metadata storage (no memory content).
- Apple (Sign in with Apple) — login authentication.
- RevenueCat — subscription status management.
- Self-hosted AI gateway — processes only the relevant chapter text, and only when you trigger AI chapter synthesis (see Section 3).
- Expo / Apple push services and an email service — to deliver weekly reminders.
5. Data Retention & Deletion
You can permanently delete your account and all data at any time from in-app “Settings → Delete account”. The action is irreversible and permanently erases:
- all memories, chapters, recordings, and photos on your local device;
- the account, subscription, and reminder data held in our backend;
- your Sign in with Apple authorization, which is revoked at the same time.
6. Children’s Privacy
LifeLore is intended for adults recording life memories and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you within the app of any material change. Your continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
